Anil Rice Vermicelli (Rice Sevai) – TastyGrains

Cooking Method

Savory Sevai (Upma Style):

  1. Boil water with a pinch of salt and a few drops of oil.
  2. Add rice vermicelli and cook for 3–5 minutes until soft.
  3. Drain and rinse with cold water to avoid sticking.
  4. In a pan, temper mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chili, and onion.
  5. Add cooked sevai and mix well.
  6. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Sweet Sevai:

  1. Cook vermicelli as above and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat ghee, add sugar or jaggery syrup.
  3. Mix in cooked sevai, cardamom powder, and roasted cashews.
  4. Stir well and serve warm.
